Two medical providers join Bassett Family Practice

The Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness is proud to announce the addition of two medical providers.

Kate Ryan, D.O. has joined Bassett Family Practice, one of Martinsville Henry County Coalition for Health and Wellness’s two Federally Qualified Health Centers. Dr. Ryan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC in 2012. She holds a medical degree as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Liberty University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Lynchburg, Virginia that she received in 2018. She completed her family medicine residency at Sovah Health – Danville. Dr. Ryan will provide comprehensive, medical services to patients of all ages.

From August 2012-2013, Dr. Ryan was involved in the Young Adults in Global Mission program of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in Toliara, Madagascar, where she served as an English teacher and a volunteer at Lutheran Clinic for baby vaccination. In 2016, she also participated in Global Missions Health Conference in Louisville, Kentucky and plans to attend again in November of this year.

Dr. Ryan volunteered as a Sunday school teacher at Bethlehem Lutheran Church from 2014-2016 and she is looking forward to getting involved in children’s ministry locally. In addition, she has assisted with sports physicals at Tunstall High School, and she volunteered for the Community Care Collaborative, outreach clinics, in Martinsville and Danville.

She is certified in BLS, ACLS, ALSO, NRP and is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.

Dr. Ryan enjoys running and has a marathon personal record of 3 hours, 11 seconds. She has an interest in Spanish and Malagasy. She also enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Mike and one-year old daughter, Grace.

Mandy Hatcher has also joined the team of medical providers at Bassett Family Practice as a certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She will provide patient-centered care and treatment to patients of all ages.

Mandy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Radford University in Radford, VA in 2015. She obtained her Master of Science in Nursing degree with High Honors from South University in Savannah, Georgia in 2019.

Mandy served with the Fieldale-Collinsville Rescue Squad as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) from 2004-2016 and with the Boys and Girls Club and Citizens Against Family Violence in 2013. She was also a part of the Phi theta Kappa Honor Society from 2013-2014 and has been a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners since 2019.

She is a CPR Healthcare Provider and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Mandy has combined clinical experience, including primary care, pediatrics, adults and gerontology, women’s health and advanced health and physical assessment.

Mandy comes to the Coalition most recently from Martinsville’s Urgent Care, where she served as an FNP and Sovah – Martinsville as a charge nurse in Telemetry.

In Mandy’s spare, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children outdoors swimming, hiking and vacationing in the mountains as often as possible.
