Medicaid Expansion/Adult Healthcare Coverage

Beginning January 1, 2019, more adults living in Virginia became eligible for Medicaid so, if you applied for Medicaid in the past and were denied, you may now be eligible. Our Medicaid Expansion Outreach Advocate can help you apply. Medicaid Application Assistance is available year-round.

FAMIS

Family Access to Medical Insurance Security (FAMIS) is Virginia’s health insurance program for children and pregnant women. It makes health care affordable for children of eligible families. FAMIS covers all the medical care growing children need to avoid getting sick, plus the medical care that will help them if they do get sick or get hurt.

Affordable Care Act

MHC Coalition for Health and Wellness has trained Certified Applications Counselors (CACs) available to help you understand, apply and enroll for health coverage through the Affordable Care Act. If you missed open enrollment or have found yourself uninsured during the pandemic, this will give you another opportunity to sign up for the health insurance you need.
