Circle of Hope

Our team was delighted to be a part of Susan G. Komen’s Virginia Blue Ridge Affiliate Circle of Hope event on the evening of April 9th.

The above photo shows Joyce Eggleston. She is not only a Health Access Coordinator with Ladies First, our community breast health initiative program, but she is also a breast cancer survivor. This makes our mission near and dear to her heart. Breast cancer survivors that were in attendance at the Circle of Hope event were presented with a pink rose.

“A breast cancer diagnosis is a life changing experience,” Joyce Eggleston said. “To many people that rose is just a pretty flower, but to me, it is a reminder that I am a survivor. I am grateful to be here to share my story with others.”

The Coalition partners with local doctors in Martinsville city and Henry and Patrick counties, on Ladies First. In addition, this program is also offered to uninsured women in both of our health centers. For more information or if you or someone you know is without health insurance and cannot afford a mammogram, please call Health Connect at 276.638.0787 to see if you are eligible.
